Team Member Spotlight: Stacie Marsh

For a while now, we’ve been wanting to start a series of blog posts to show off our amazing team here at The Jug. Unfortunately, it kept taking a backseat to other, more pressing, priorities. However, today, we are excited to begin our series by introducing you to one of our awesome bartenders, Stacie Marsh.

Stacie began working at The Glass Jug in July 2019 after moving to the Triangle from Florida to be closer to her parents and her sister, who all live in the Triangle area. She has been a great addition to our team, as she brings a fantastic energy to the bar, and her background in elementary teaching has all sorts of benefits when working in a fast-paced environment like a brewery taproom.

We would like to write a whole blog post about Stacie’s dog, Charlie, as she is pretty fantastic, but we’ll just say that if you get the chance to meet Charlie, take a second to say hello. Charlie and Stacie love to go hiking. Stacie also uses her downtime to work out at the gym, catch up on a good book, or enjoy a game night with her family.

When asked about her favorite style of beer, Stacie will likely tell you that, despite her ever-broadening palate, and her love for many different and unique styles, she always falls back on a well-made IPA. She’s been riding that haze train lately, enjoying all of the many smooth, juicy IPAs with lower bitterness levels, like what you can find in our Opacity IPA series.

If not drinking a beer, Stacie will reach for a glass of white wine. One of her favorites is the Rickety Bridge Chenin Blanc, an excellent South African wine we keep in stock at The Jug. She recommends enjoying your hazy IPAs or your white wines with pizza, as pizza goes with everything!

We always ask our team what their favorite thing is about working at The Jug. And, much to our surprise, Stacie did not say it was the employee discount or the paycheck. Instead, she says that her favorite thing about The Jug is the people on both sides of the bar. We have an awesome team that she enjoys working with and our customers are all fantastic, interesting people. We really couldn’t ask for much more.

You’ll also know if Stacie likes or dislikes a beer. She can’t hide it if she doesn’t like it, so don’t ever think she’s just trying to sell you something. In fact, she gave us permission to share one of her more embarrassing stories from her time at The Jug. One day, shortly after she first started working at The Jug, some customers and off-the-clock staff had opened a few new IPA cans from various breweries to share. Stacie tried one in particular and found it to be terrible. She then made an awful face and almost spit it out. The worst part was that it was from a relatively expensive bottle that one of our regular customers had very graciously opened up to share. So, if you’re unsure if she really means it when she tells you a beer is good. Trust us, you’ll know it if she doesn’t like it!
