The Glass Jug Celebrates Two Years with Big Events This September

DURHAM (NC) - The Glass Jug, one of Durham’s favorite spots for local and craft beer and wine, is celebrating their second anniversary with two big events this September. The bottle shop and bar has quickly become a staple in the RTP/South Durham area since opening their doors in September, 2014. Trophy Brewing Collaboration Beer - Velvet Sea On draft all month!

The Glass Jug team has partnered with Trophy Brewing Company, who recently opened a second facility on Maywood Road in Raleigh, to brew a special beer to commemorate the occasion. Velvet Sea, a baltic porter was released as part of a tap takeover with Trophy Brewing on Thursday, September 1. The beer will be available on draft throughout the month.

Cellar Sale Thursday & Friday, September 15 - 16th

Additionally, throughout the day on Thursday and Friday, September 15 and 16, The Glass Jug will be re-releasing some limited and rare beers that they have hoarded in their cellar for the past two years. The cellar sale will include specialty beers, such as:

  • Goose Island’s Bourbon County
  • Foothills Barrel-Aged Sexual Chocolate
  • Epic Big Bad Baptist
  • Olde Hickory Event Horizon
  • And more…

We recommend showing up early these two days, because some of these beers are going to sell fast! (The Glass Jug opens at noon both days.)

2nd Anniversary Party Saturday, September 17th from 2pm - 7pm

The Trophy collaboration and the cellar sale are both just warm-up acts for what will surely be a highlight among Triangle beer events this fall. On Saturday, September 17, The Glass Jug will be roping off a large portion of their parking lot and filling it with live music, food trucks, and eight of the best local breweries in NC.

The anniversary party will feature specialty beers from:

  • Bond Brothers Beer Company
  • Southern Pines Brewing
  • Trophy Brewing Company
  • Wicked Weed
  • Olde Hickory
  • Haw River Farmhouse Ales
  • Durty Bull Brewing Company
  • Almanac Brewing
  • Steel String
  • Fullsteam Brewery
  • Ponysaurus Brewing
  • And more...

Music during the event will be provided by Chris Sayles of Jack the Radio and Aim North, and food will be available from the KoKyu food truck and Smallcakes.

“It’s crazy to think it’s already been two years,” said Chris Creech, who owns The Glass Jug with his wife, Katy.

“We’re so thankful for the fun and supportive community we’re a part of. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to invite everyone over and throw a party,” Creech added.
